Waiting for the Smoke to Clear
Our rankings in the Princeton Review’s The Best 361 Colleges hit the fan this morning. Specifically, the various fun lists that make up a set of gray pages in the front of the thick book.
We got listed in the following:
14 on Most Beautiful Campus
1 on Students Most Nostalgic for Bill Clinton
15 on Most Politicaly Active Students
3 on Birkenstock-Wearing, Tree-Hugging, Clove-Smoking Vegetarians
and of course
1 on Reefer Madness
I’ll go with the “any publicity is good publicity” tack this morning.
Sometime in the last decade our local paper started hating us.
At least they blunted the article a little toward the end.

No. 1 in the reefer madness category, eh? Could’ve been worse. A few years ago the PR tagged our students the “least happy” and cast our campus among the ranks of “purgatory” schools. (Beats hell, I guess. And “least happy” doesn’t necessarily mean our students were unhappy, just not as happy as others.)
Now, ranking first in “least happy” and “reefer madness” in the same year — that would be odd.
